Rev. Dr. Ray Jones III
Director of Theology, Formation, and Evangelism
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
Workshop Description: According to our speaker, Ray Jones, "If evangelism is simply a tool to bring more people into our churches, evangelism is not good news. Evangelism is not good news when it is used to focus on one aspect of the faith, like eternal life. Separated from justice, evangelism is bad news. The gospel is meant to bring both hope and restoration to the world." During this workshop, we will identify and explore with Ray and fellow workshop participants eight habits of evangelism... justice, radical welcome, worship, sacraments, prayer, fellowship, teaching, and generosity... and how these habits over time change us and enable us to embark on a journey of going deeper in our faith, relationships around us and God's mission of rescue and reconciliation in the world.
